"Andrea, Paano Ba ang Maging Isang Ina?" and "Himala"
Award-winning scriptwriter Ricky Lee said that
2014 Gawad Plaridel recipient Nora Aunor contradicts her ‘icon’ status.
“Napagkocombine niya ‘yung naaabot at hindi naaabot (She is able to
reconcile the reachable and the unreachable),” said Lee in an interview after
the awarding ceremony at the University of the Philippines Wednesday.
“[M]eron siyang mystery, meron siyang mystique. Meron siyang pagka-icon
na mataas na hindi natin totally magrasp, hindi totally maabot na nando’on na
sa taas (She’s mysterious, she has mystique. Her icon is at the height that it
is unreachable),” said Lee, who worked with Nora in Andrea, Paano Ba
Ang Maging Isang Ina?.
Aunor won awards for portraying roles of the common people such as
Andrea, a teacher and Elsa, a faith healer in Himala.
Lee said that Aunor is not only able to relate to the masses through
her portrayal of different roles but likes to interact with them during shoots.
“[M]iski saan siya pumunta, yinayakap niya ‘yung mga lola, mga
tindera... Hindi siya nagiistay sa van, gusto niya lagi lumalabas at
pinupuntahan niya ‘yung mga tao (Wherever she goes, she hugs the elderly and the
vendors… She does not stay in the van, she likes going out and meeting the
people),” Lee added.
Lee escorted Aunor throughout the program and after event celebration.
They have been friends since they first worked in Himala in 1982.
